The LOV needlework project is a skills development project that is currently providing sewing training to unemployed youth and woman on farms in the Ashton and Robertson districts of the Breede River Winelands in the Western Cape province of South Africa.
A cohort of up to 10 trainees are taken in every 3 months to empower them with sewing skills.
The best performing candidates are being identified to assist in establishing a business that manufactures and alters products and garments in order to make the training project self-sustaining.
The LOV needlework project is a project that was re-estabilshed with the support of the Breede RIver Winelands Rural Development Association (NPO 041-754) in May 2023. The original project established by SIlverthreads Service Centre ran successfully from 2013 to 2020 but unfortunately had to close during the COVID 19 pandemic when one of the head seamstresses passed away and the rental premises was no longer available.
In 2023 one of the original team members recruited another leading seamstress and motivated for the reestablishment of the project.
Our organization is built on a foundation of compassion, integrity, and accountability.
